March 25th marks the bicentenary of the British parliamentary act to abolish the trans-Atlantic slave trade and to commemorate ‘The Voice of Slavery’, a charitable concert, held at The Forum will be one of many events held across Britain. Hosted by Samantha Morton, Rhys Ifans and Sadie Frost, the evening will be central in raising awareness of the persistence of slavery, whose modern incarnations range from child domestic workers in the Philippines to the trafficking of women for use in the sex industry in the capital cities of Europe.
Currently announced as performers are Ed Harcourt, Finley Quaye, Emmanuel Jal and excitingly Supergrass.
