Ticket-alert: Tits Out, Pants Down
Metric pretending to be Spooks

If there's one band that made us squeal repeatedly during 2006 it was Toronto's Metric. Signed to Drowned in Sound in the UK, Emily Haines and her boys have managed to release two of the finest indie albums of recent years as well as working regularly with the likes of Stars and Broken Social Scene. With hard riffs, unforgettable hooks and snarky female vocals, the one thing we urge you to do today, is to download a copy of their 2006 hit Monster Hospital (ignore the hipsters and their MSTRKRFT remix, stick to the original). Used on a series of shows such as Grey's Anatomy and generally lauded by all critics in America it is Metric's defining song. Hell, even Hollyoaks used it in their opening sequence last week, and if that's not cool, then what on earth is?

We could talk about this band for hours but instead we want you to experience them yourselves. We caught them live at Hammersmith Palais (*sob*) late last year and now they return to the UK to support Bloc Party on February 1 [sold out] and play their own headlining gig at Dingwalls in Camden on Tuesday Jan 30. Tickets cost £8.50 and as always the cheapest way to buy them is via ticketweb. See you down the front.
