A BBC Proms concert due to take place yesterday evening had to be cancelled after a small fire at the Royal Albert Hall.

According to the Beeb part of the building was 'filled with smoke' after a fire broke out in the artists' bar but "no-one was injured or trapped".

The concert, by the Philadelphia Orchestra was due to feature works by Beethoven and Matthias Pintscher and was to be broadcast on Radio Three and BBC Four.

Just for the record, the last time this happened was in 2002 when Tony Bennett was forced off stage halfway through a good croon.

Of course, the Royal Academy also caught fire last week so let's hope this isn't the beginning of a trend.
