It's Official: Travel Is Impossible

In the past hour it's been announced that 500 baggage handlers at Stansted airport have voted to strike at the Bank Holiday weekend over a row about pay.

Check-in staff and baggage handlers at the Essex airport are planning two walk-outs next weekend - one of the busiest times for the travel industry, which is still struggling to run a normal service after extra anti-terror attack security measures were imposed last week.

The strike's come about after Swissport, who run the baggage handling for airlines like Ryanair and easyjet, offered an "over complicated" 4 percent pay rise to workers "with various strings attached".

It might sound petty, but bear in mind that your average baggage handler earns around £12,000 a year and its a little easier to feel sympathy for them, especially compared to some other strike-happy professions (yes, tube drivers, we're looking at you).

Anyway, all we need now is for cab drivers to get upset over something and we're all going to have to stay at home or start trravelling by Segway.
