Greenpeace Take Over Admirality Arch

It's been a while since we had a massive stunt from Greenpeace, in recent years it's almost like Fathers4Justice took over their mantle.

But today they came back with a bang by occupying Admirality Arch and erecting a massive banner reading "Repeat offendor! Blair's trashed another rainforest."

The Greenpeace argument is that the current rennovation of the arch is using plywood containing hardwoods from the rainforests of Papua New Guinea, which is why some of the volunteers atop the arch this morning were attempting to remove some of the offending material.

As we passed at around 8am the police were just turning up, so we'll see how long it takes to remove them. Although, to be honest, it looks like they're their for the duration.

And we only had our phone with us, so if you have a better picture let us know (or get it on our on-site gallery by tagging it on Flickr with the word 'londonist').
