Long-Term Pay Deal For Tube Unions?

London Underground has started talks with its management and union leaders today to try and convince them to sign up to a five year pay deal.

London Underground's argument is that a long-term deal would bring a bit of stability and would therefore be in the best interests of Tube staff and passengers.

RMT, however, aren't playing ball, and have been quoted as saying that they would not commit to any deal longer than a year as it would leave them “hostage to economic fortune”.

Makes a change doesn't it, someone holding the RMT to ransom?
