Booking Ahead

We said we'd try to concentrate on less rock based gigs this week, and then we found out that Foo Fighters are playing Hyde Park on the 17th June. Nothing that special there until you add Motorhead and Queens Of The Stone Age to the bill, and suddenly you have a very strong bill that should keep rock fans across the board polishing their bullet belts in anticipation For Motorhead alone, it'll be well worth the trials of trying to get through tomorrow when tickets go on sale.

And if that's not enough Monster for you, the less angry, anti file sharing Metallica have been announced as headlining Download. If you'll forgive us a moment of self indulgence but to quote Hetfield himself: Fuck Yeah Motherfuckers!

Hmm, what else?

The bemusingly popular Hard Fi play the Scala on the 18th May, the rather excellent Editors play Brixton on June 1st and there are still tickets left for the return of baggy survivors come US rockers The Charlatans at Brixton on May 5th. Lastly we'll mention in passing that a fine evening of mellow Americana is available for all to savour at the Forum on the 23rd April where Calexico and Iron And Wine play a double header.

Motorhead and Iron and Wine. A little diverse for a Friday but a fair gift from us to you. Now go buy tickets.
