- The former head of the Met, Lord Stevens, has called for the reinstatement of the death penalty for the killers of PC Sharon Beshenivsky: "Such an extreme act of pure evil can only be met by the most extreme of responses - and that can only be death."

- Over the weekend one young man was stabbed to death in Leyton, while an 18 year old Asian man who was dragged off the 147 bus in Newham and stabbed in the back is in a "critical but stable condiditon".

- Ken has warned the Government not to merge the Commission for Racial Equality into other bodies as it could be "a serious setback to race relations in the UK."

- London Underground is looking at getting the same 'smart' CCTV as the New York Metro just installed.

- And Madonna's London gig demands apparently included a request for her dressing room to be repainted and fitted with a soft carpet, huge amounts of English tea, fresh lemons and flowers to ensure that her room smelled nice, and total silence while she prepared for the show.
