Finally a bit of news involving the new Wembley Stadium that doesn't involve the word 'delayed'.

According to the BBC today a new statue of Bobby Moore will stand outside the main stadium entrance on Wembley Way as of next year.

The statue will be sculpted by Philip Jackson who was chosen from a shortlist of artists (sculptor idol?). Jackson's past work includes likenesses of Sir Matt Busby outside Old Trafford, the Queen in Windsor Great Park, a Falklands War memorial in Portsmouth and the Wallenberg Monument in London (opposite the Western Marble Arch Synagogue, near the Swedish Embassy).

David Beckham did make statement about how important Moore was to English football, and we completely agree with him, but the statement was so dull that we can't bear to reproduce it here.
