A set of confidential health reports obtained by the Guardian have thrown a bit of an 'unsavoury' light on some of London's more exclusive eating establishments.

Here's what they had to say about Gordon Ramsay's at Claridges in November of 2003:

Raw meats were being stored in the same fridge near to other food which had already been cooked or was ready to eat, such as cheese. The raw meat had been wrapped in clingfilm. Records of the training of kitchen staff were not kept on the site of the restaurant in Claridges Hotel in Mayfair, as they should have been.

Other restaurants which have been 'named and shamed' include the Cinnamon Club ("the proper recording of temperatures in the cooked food"), The Ivy ("nothing scary... literally something like a cracked tile") and Sketch ("Regular handwashing is important for personal cleanliness. All staff should be reminded of the need for this.")

While it's not really Down and Out in Paris and London territory, Westminster Council are apparently so worried that the reports would "cause 'confusion and panic' and damage London's tourist trade" that they are fighting to keep them from being released.

As regular customer of establishments such as Subway and Khan Fried Chicken (154 Commercial Road if you're interested) Londonist is not going to start getting confused and panicky just yet.
