So fashion week came and went and...well, it wasn't that exciting really. Even the fur protestors were a little dowdy this year.

Which means there's a lot of pressure on Alternative Fashion Week to inject a bit of excitement into what is, let's face it, a bit of a floundering British industry.

The idea behind AFW is for young fashion designers to get recognised and maybe even 'discovered' and also to provide a bit of a platform for some genuinely independent work.

Which is great and everything...but what we're far more interested in is that Premier Model Management are running a modelling competition at the event, and their "scouts will be searching the crowd for new faces". The eventual winner will be offered a contract with Premier.

What do you reckon, do you think we should give our modelling career one last shot? It's not too late is it?

Alternative Fashion Week runs until 18 MArch at the Old Truman Brewery. Shows are open to the public daily at 1:15pm, with 12 different designers on show each day.
