New Piccadilly's Moment In The Spotlight

We were browsing through some of our long-neglected bookmarks this afternoon and decided to take a look at the consistently brilliant Classic Cafes site.

If you've never visited before (and you should have because it's on our list of links right here on this page) then we can tell you Classic Cafes celebrates, champions and attempts to protect and preserve the "Italian-styled Formica cafe/coffee bars" that remain in the capital; and it's proprietor, Adrian Maddox, is one of the most dedicated and passionate people we've ever encountered (for the full story check out his book).

Anyway, now we've got the envangelising out the way, on to the news. According to Classic Cafe's news section one of Londonist's favourite cafes (the New Piccadilly) is to feature in a new Richard Curtis film:

A new TV movie called 'The Girl in the Cafe' was filmed in the New Piccadilly several weeks ago. Featuring Bill Nighy, it's out in Autumn and threatens to turn owner Lorenzo Marioni into the mainstream modern figurehead he so longs to be."

Bill Nighy and Lorenzo (that's him pictured above)? The women of London won't know what's hit them!
