A couple of weeks ago we reported on the plans to use the Millennium Dome as a homeless shelter over the Christmas period.

Now it's difficult not to be cynical about anything which has something to do with the Dome, but this at least seemed like it had a decent idea at its heart. So thank God then that it worked.

The charity Crisis, who were given free use of the monstrous, white carbuncle over Christmas, has reported 700 people have visited the Dome since Christmas Eve

According to our calculations that's around 650 more visitors than it got when it was a so-called tourist attraction.

My girlfriend and I have volountered (sp?) for crisis this year and I have to say the dome is a horrid, dated waste of money. Inside the dome the roofing looks like an old tent all grey and dirty looking, hardly a modern materpiece. We were based in 2 large offices to the south of the dome, which due to leaking a mis-wiring we're being demolised in 2005! Although we enjoying helping and offering our services I couldn't help but feel let down by labour and how they took a unused land, spent hundreds of millions and now its back to unused land! CRIMINAL!

I volunteered this year at the dome (for the first time) and wrote some thoughts at my blog. Great site, take care
