How To Be An Artist

"Warning: There is nothing in this exhibition or performance that can be construed as a step-by-step guide to being and artist of any kind."

drummond.gifSo reads the press release to Bill Drummond's latest venture, How To be An Artist.

In the exhibition which opened last night at the Arts Depot, Drummond investigates "price, meaning, value and exactly what role art should play in our lives.".

The whole thing stems from a photograph the ex-Justified Ancient of Mumu bought in 1995 for $20,000.

Five years later, Bill decided he didn't like his expensive photo much any more. So, instead of just burning it, he decided to write a book on the subject which, in time, led to this exhibition.

Performances run until 28, November. Tickets are £10, and can be purchased from the box office on 020 8449 0048.
