What Do You Think Of This New Tube Roundel?

Do not adjust your peepers: if you step off the tube at Southwark station from tomorrow, this will be the roundel that greets you.

Artist Michael Craig-Martin has reimagined the iconic London Underground roundel, to celebrate the reopening of the nearby Tate Modern.

It's certainly a departure from the traditional red, blue and white colour scheme, and reminds us of a packet of Refreshers, which in turn makes us want to lick it. Is that so wrong?

Said Craig-Martin: "It is particularly nice to have the opportunity to play a little with such a classic motif as the tube roundel. I hope that it catches the eye and the imagination of people arriving to see the extraordinary new Tate Modern."

If you want to see the zany roundel, you'll have to be quick. It'll only be at Southwark station from the morning of 17 June to the evening of 19 June, after which normal service resumes.
