Join Michael Rosen For Discover's Children's Literature Festival, The Big Write

Stars of children's literature are heading to Stratford this March for a festival celebrating the best of children's books: The Big Write.

Michael Rosen will be joined by some of the UK's best children's authors, illustrators, poets, musicians and artists: Children's Laureate Chris Riddell, Gareth P Jones, Cerrie Burnell and Sam Lloyd will all be taking part.

There's even the chance to meet picture book characters Maisy and Kipper.

Head to Stratford Library to see Michael Rosen combine forces with Chris Riddell for a new poetry picture book for the very young called A Great Big Cuddle. Chris will draw live on stage as Michael performs poems from the book.

Over at Stratford East Picturehouse, science fans are in for a treat as illustrator Tony De Saulles celebrates 20 years of Horrible Science.

Highlights of the many events taking place at Discover include A F Harrold's many hats, Sam Lloyd and his puppeteer friend Amy, and werewolves and granny folding with poet Joseph Coelho. There'll be daily special events for babies and toddlers, plus a special musical Story Trail at the centre..

We particularly recommend the Groove Baby concerts on 5 March (described as "soul-jazz and boogaloo adventures inspired by some of Michael Rosen's best-loved stories" — what's not to like?) and Fun DMC's Daytime Block Party on 6 March: child-friendly hip hop, funk, disco and block party anthems hosted by parent and music maestro Charlie Dark.

The Big Write runs from 3-11 March based at Discover Children’s Story Centre, 383-387 High Street, Stratford, E15 4QZ. For tickets and more information, visit the Discover Centre's website.
