THE JAM:
Somerset House opens a new exhibition today, featuring items from The Jam's personal archive, examining the band’s career and the legacy they left on music, style, politics and culture. £9.50, prebook, until 31 August

GLASTONBURY COVER:
Didn’t get a ticket for Glasto this year? Fear not, and head to Paddington’s Norfolk Square Gardens where live music takes place all afternoon, alongside food stalls, a ping pong table and deck chairs. Free, just turn up, 12.30pm-7.30pm

AFRICAN CONCERT:
The School of Oriental and African Studies host a special one-off concert by African band Kasai Masai, mixing the traditional sound of the equatorial African village with a distinctive urban edge. For an extra charge, you can take part in a drumming workshop beforehand. £5, prebook, 6pm-9pm

WHIPLASH:
Watch Oscar-winning film Whiplash at the new Everyman Cinema at Crossrail Place in Canary Wharf. The screening is preceded by a live jazz rendition of the film's score. £17, 6.30pm

DINOSAUR SECRETS:
The Natural History Museum's stegosaurus is one of the most complete specimens ever found. Tonight,  join museum experts to discover how they read the secrets of Stegosaurus bones to reconstruct these prehistoric animals, and what techniques modern day palaeontologists use to bring the past to life. £15, prebook, 6.30pm

SEA LIFE LATE:
London Aquarium is open late for adults only, offering an extra chance to get up close to the tanks containing sharks, rays and jellyfish. Food and drink are available to purchase and you'll get a free glass of prosecco on arrival. £29, 6.45pm

Like cheese? Like wine? Attend this masterclass at The Mitre in Lewisham, and wow dinner party guests with your knowledge. Learn all about some surprisingly tasty couplings, like goat's cheese and Sancerre or stilton with sweet dessert wine. £20, 7pm

Head to Rich Mix for a performance of Garden, an Edinburgh preview show about an office worker who rescues a neglected pot plant, and as a result begins to nurture her own wilderness. £7/£5, prebook, 7.30pm

Head to Cecil Sharp House in Camden for a night of Ceilidh dancing to Scottish music. Taking part in the dancing is optional, but why not give it a go? £16.50, 8pm

This is going to be a good one: Adam Buxton headlines at Bush Hall, with more-than-able support from Diane Morgan (aka Philomena Cunk), Nish Kumar, and a ‘special guest’ who is blatantly Harry Hill. £21.45, prebook, 8pm

LIVE MUSIC:
Enjoy an evening of French Gypsy music, swing, waltz and bolero at Brasserie Toulouse Lautrec, Kennington. Surya Anita is a French singer specialising in English jazz and gypsy swing. Her soulful songs and playful waltzes will take you back to the '20s and '50s. £7, 9.30pm
