What If London... New Exhibition Explores The Imaginary City
It's time to get un-real — and start thinking about an alternative, imaginary London.
Take some inspiration from this series of colourful illustrations, which are currently on display at London Transport Museum as part of the Prize for Illustration 2015. This year's theme is London Places & Spaces which highlights the beauty of the capital's squares, streets, public parks and alleyways.
Each of these images represents a fantastic city, reimagined through the eyes of the artist who created it. Every illustration features a vivid use of colours and has a strong graphic style.
Among those on show is 2nd prize winner Carly Allen Fletcher with her artwork Compound City. Meanwhile Bill Walsh imagines solving the city as you might do with a sliding puzzle. Jacob Tomlinson depicts Cambridge Heath as an intricate cluster that looks like it's made out of Lego and Russ Gray puts all his literary London memories down on a single piece of paper.
We’re delighted to be media partner to London Transport Museum and will be bringing you snapshots and stories behind the illustrations throughout the exhibition’s run.
