Free Film Festival Comes To London Fields

Rye_BooksThe Free Film Festival will take place in London Fields for the first time in October, with a 10 day celebration of cinema.

The festival will focus on Hackney-based themes and filmmakers, but with a variety of features, documentaries, shorts, animation and experimental films, so we think there'll be plenty to choose from.

Ryan Gosling fans will be treated to the getaway drama Drive as well as being able to vote on which of his other films they watch in an all-dayer at Hackney Attic at The Picturehouse. Over at Hackney City Farm, visitors can stroke a chicken before settling down to watch Despicable Me. Fashion fans will be able to view student fashion shorts at the London College of Fashion, while Under The Cranes combines Hackney's local history with archive footage.

The London Fields Free Film Festival runs from 17-26 October 2014. The list of events and venues is here. And as the name suggests, it's all free.

There are four other Free Film Festivals to be found at South Norwood and Thornton Heath, while in 2015, it reaches Peckham and Nunhead, New Cross and Deptford, Herne Hill and Camberwell. More information on these are on the Free Film Festival's website.
