15:00 UPDATE: ALL MAPS NOW SOLD OUT BUT YOU CAN LOOK AT THE MAP CLOSELY ONLINE HERE
After selling out last Sunday, we’ve just received a fresh stock of Anglo Saxon Maps of London. The limited edition prints cost £20 each (+ £3 p&p, or you can collect for free from our Old Street office).
The A2 map — created by Londonist’s own Matt Brown — depicts London as it might have looked during the period 500-1066AD. It highlights the many villages, hamlets and farmsteads whose names are still part of modern London — from Wemba Lea to Kenningtune. Long-buried rivers, flood planes and forests are also depicted, along with Roman roads and Anglo Saxon tracks.
There are only 40 of this version of the map in existence. Once they’ve gone, you’ll have to wait for Matt to produce the next update.
Also available from our shop: sexy Oystercard holders, bright Londonist t-shirts and huggy hoodies. Start shopping here.
Profit from all sales will be ploughed back into Londonist, so by purchasing our merchandise you are helping us to keep bringing you the best, most important, quirky and interesting London stories every day.
