The Blitz Party remembers the 70th anniversary of D-Day

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of D-Day, which marked the beginning of the liberation of Europe from Nazi control during the Second World War, Blitz Party has organised a one-off wartime-themed celebration. 'Run for Shelter' is the motto and, appropriately, the party takes place in an underground venue.

On Saturday 7 June get ready to be thrown back tp the 1940s: The Vaults, the multi-disciplinary underground venue in Waterloo, will be transformed into a wartime shelter. The warren of tunnels will be filled with sandbags, searchlights, blackout curtains and even military bunk beds. During the night, there will be clues, maps and code-breaking, to further entertain.

The party starts at 8pm and the programme includes: screening of wartime films and newsreels, live music featuring a swing band and DJs, a beauty parlour to style ladies up and — of course — themed cocktails and snacks.

The dress code is rigorously 1940 glamour and those in sneakers will not be admitted. Tea-dresses and red lipstick for women while medals and uniforms for men would be the ideal look.

The Blitz Party takes place on Saturday 7 June at The Vaults, Waterloo Road, SE1 8 London. Tickets are £25+bf and can be purchased online. The Blitz Party organises themed party periodically, more information can be found on their website.
