How To #LiveFearless In London This Week #2

This is a sponsored article on behalf of Jaguar.

@peppyhere submitted this picture of Trafalgar Square's pillow fight on Instagram last week and won a Sony QX100 Smart Lens digital camera.

Can fear push you to be better?

We're back again to bring you a new batch of ideas to help you #LiveFearless in London this week. If you're up for trying something new, or indeed have already mastered the art of facing your fears, then share an example of your #LiveFearless attitude with Jaguar for the chance to incredible prizes. So, what's on the agenda this week?

1. If you're nervous about an upcoming work presentation or find it difficult to lead the conversation in a group, then Speed Public Speaking tonight (19 May) could be a great way to conquer your fear of talking in front of a crowd. The friendly, informal group can give you feedback on how to improve your style, while you can get your own tips from watching others do their thing too.

2. Another fantastic option to reduce the stress of meeting new people, is Barbican's Walking Reading Group on Participation (there's an event this Weds 21 May). Rather than a sit-down group, this unconventional approach allows members to discuss texts while walking through the streets of London, so you can introduce yourself to others and enjoy the conversation while admiring our lovely capital.

3. Not in the mood for talking? Fearless inspiration can come from anywhere, and the Barbican Centre is a great example if you just want to sit back and appreciate innovative design. Its brutalist architecture was radical when it was built and evokes a love it or hate it response. It is, however, a treasured part of the City and a much sought-after residential location. Explore its high walkways and dramatic water features for free, download this walking guide to enjoy the unique space with some added information.

4. Tackle your fear of heights at one of London's various climbing walls. Strap yourself in and slowly make your way to the top, or push yourself a bit further and go bouldering - that's low level climbing but with no harness. Or for a real sense of adventure, pay a visit to Vertical Chill, an ice wall in Covent Garden. Yes, ice wall. It's 8m high, kept at a balmy -5°C to -7°C, and all equipment is provided so beginners can get stuck right in.

5. Or, for something entirely different, you could try Dans Le Noir - a London restaurant where diners are immersed in total darkness. Sounds unnerving, right? Well spending a long period of time in a pitch black room certainly has its challenges, but this unusual concept also works as a social experiment. How do we cope when we're not able to rely on sight? What senses are awakened? What preconceptions have we had about sightlessness?
