Tube Station Themed Bar Pops Up For London Design Festival

You may have already seen the news from Ian Visits about a tube station themed bar opening up during the London Design Festival and serving Camden Town Brewery beer, but there are some other interesting eat-and-drinkeries setting up at designjunction, New Oxford Street, too.

Obviously, the nerd within us is excited at the prospect of drinking in a bar tiled to look like a tube station, much like we were about last year's 1950s transport cafe (place your bets now for what Transport for London will do in 2014). Camden Town Brewery already run its own bar in Kentish Town and will be installing a microbrewery on site, so if you enjoy its range of beers you know you're in safe hands.

Inquisitive eyebrows also raised at an Italian cafe run by ice cream purveyors Gelupo, which we recently named as probably the best gelateria in London. Savour a gelato while sipping prosecco or a La Marzocco coffee in its corner of designjunction, which will be furnished by Arper and lit by Artemide.

There will also be a Chilean wine bar and a space for Sodastream, still kicking off that retro image. And if Picky Glutton's trashing of Jamie Oliver's Barbecoa ("irredeemably awful") has put you off for life, you can always watch its butchery masterclass.

Entry is free now a fiver but you'll need to register for tickets.

designjunction is at 21-31 New Oxford Street, WC1, 18-22 September. It's part of the London Design Festival which runs 14-22 September.
