Map London’s Cats For ZSL London Zoo

To while away the time until ZSL London Zoo’s new Tiger Territory opens (about three weeks), they’re asking Londoners to add their cats to a Cat Map.

The map mimics techniques used by conservationists recording the numbers and locations of animals in the wild. Upload a photo of your feline, add its age, gender and a description (favourite treat? Favourite place to nap? Your favourite item of clothing that it’s shredded?) plus your postcode and help create what the Zoo hopes will be a comprehensive survey of the capital’s mogs. They’ve already added profiles for Jae Jae and Melati, two highly endangered Sumatran tigers, and now they want the little cats too.

And if you’re interested in tiger conservation, don’t forget the launch of Tiger Tracks with Brian May and Kerry Ellis tonight at St Pancras.

Seriously tempting to stick one in the middle of the river and label it “Richard Parker”.
