Preview: West Coast Live Radio Show

West Coast Live (WCL) belongs in California, recording radio shows in parks, museums, restaurants, skyscrapers and theatres with a range of guests for whom the only qualification for an invite seems to be "they're interesting". Next week they're coming to London to record some shows in the relatively prosaic surroundings of Camden's Forge – but when presenter Sedge Thomson and pianist Mike Greensill have come over 5,000 miles they can be forgiven for wanting a bit of a sit down.

They've got some cracking guests: Bradley Garrett – the placehacker who climbed the Shard – food critic Jay Rayner, scientist extraordinaire Simon Singh, comedians Scott Capurro and David Mills, plus authors AS Byatt, Tom McCarthy, Helen Simpson, Raymond Bonner and Frances Osborne, playwright Iain Burnside and bluegrass troubadour James Riley are booked to appear over the four nights WCL is in town.

These shows are being taped for broadcast on radio stations across America, so get down there and show them what a London audience can do. Tickets are £11 advance and all proceeds go to Fine Cell Work, a a social enterprise that trains prisoners in paid, skilled, creative needlework.

West Coast Live is taping at The Forge, 3-7 Delancy Street NW1, on 23, 24, 29 and 30 April, 7.30-9.30pm. Tickets £11 advance / £12 on the door.
