What's for Lunch? The Corner, Mare Street

Londonist asks that most pressing of daily concerns: where to go on your lunch break.

With as straightforward a name as “The Corner”, it's a safe assumption to expect straightforward offerings from this little chunk of Hackney commerce. And that's kinda the appeal of this place. Just basic brekkie dishes and baked treats, decent coffee, and good lunches for under a fiver. The cafe's baguette sandwiches are plentifully filled and served with salad. Nothing to really rave about here … no trendsetting, no gimmicks, no hipster coddling or foodie fiddling – just a reliable spot to find yourself for an inexpensive and perfectly satisfactory lunch. What a refreshing and novel concept.

The Corner is located at 121-123 Mare Street (at Well Street), E8 3RH
