Hogwarts Pupils Confounded By Moving Platform At King’s Cross

As the new school term approaches, young wizards looking for the Hogwarts Express are likely to struggle. Ongoing construction work at King’s Cross has forced Platform 9 ¾ to move once again. Wizarding sources tell us that this is the third time the mischievous portal has disapparated. Fortunately, Network Rail have provided numerous signs to help junior sorcerers navigate. You can now find the platform in a sorry little alcove outside the station on York Way. This would never have happened on Dumbledore’s watch.

What terrible photos; couldn’t you find anyone sober/with a proper camera to take them for you?

Give them a break. It’s Friday. No one should be sober on Friday…

Personally, I can’t believe they named Platform 0 at KX, surely it would have been more fun to call platform 0 Platform 9 3/4?s

Fun perhaps. Useful for anyone actualy catching a train, no.

First time I heard a call for Platform Zero, I thought I imagined it. The next time, I thought it was some kind of Inspector Sands type announcement – maybe to tell the ticket inspectors that the staff canteen was running low on doughnuts. Is there any other station with a Platform Zero?

I believe Stockport station in the north has a Platform Zero. I remember finding it odd the first time I went through there.

Cardiff Central station has a platform zero.  I think it’s because there was already a platform 1 and they built a new platform on the other side (it’s relatively new).  Presumably adding a platform 8 wouldn’t work for secret train reasons. Plus, for some reason there’s no platform 5.  Personally I like it that way.

Agree that the “sorry little alcove” is a bit naff but at least it doesn’t have a
fake plastic wall like the last one and there’s more space for the tourists to queue up to take pics.

Term indeed started yesterday, and the real Wizards knew they
didn’t want to mix with Muggle tourists so gathered inside as near as they could to where 9 3/4 was filmed as you
    can see from our pics:

A nice perk of being a Professor at Hogwarts is that we are allowed to apparate to a point just outside the main gate.
