Food Writing Course @ Leiths

Leiths School of Food & Wine at Stamford Brook, almost certainly London’s best known and respected cookery school, has announced their line up of courses for 2011.

Amongst diploma courses and evening classes covering an array of cookery styles, techniques and skill levels are a couple of very interesting looking new classes in food writing and food styling.

After the excellent and always over-subscribed Food & Drink Journalism course at City University was inexplicably dropped as part of a ‘cost-saving’ initiative that closed the whole department a couple of years ago, this new Leiths venture will be the only course of its nature in the capital. It’ll be run by Lulu Grimes (@lulugrimes), herself a past Leiths diploma student and food director for the BBC’s Good Food and Olive magazines. Lulu was also one of the original teachers on the City course.

The swathe of food and drink blogs being written from kitchens throughout London is testament to the current levels of interest in writing about food, so we can imagine this course being very popular. It’s aimed at anyone wanting to improve their own blogging as well as those wishing to make a career out of writing features, recipes or reviews.

Eight weekly evening classes will start from Tuesday 25th January, for the total cost of £320. The food styling course, run by professional stylist Sarah Cook starts in April, running for seven weeks at a cost of £260.

Visit the Leiths website to see all their courses and to book.
