A must for deep pocketed collectors or ardent fans of Catalan’s most noted surrealist, for others The Unseen Dali: Drawings, Paintings, Sculptures might not be worth much of an effort. It’s a small collection and, to be honest, we’re all pretty well acquainted with Sr Dali’s undoubtedly prodigious output of odd art.
Still, if rambling about Mayfair, it wouldn’t be a waste of time to pop in and view Modern Masters Gallery’s exhibition of paintings, drawings, watercolours and three-dimensional works by this most celebrated of 20th century artists. The 3D pieces (a few iconic sculptures from the 60s) are rare indeed and the 40 or so other bits on show have never been seen in the UK.
An opportunity for close scrutiny of how an art world legend went about creating, The Unseen Dali: Drawings, Paintings, Sculptures runs until 28 February 2011 at Modern Masters Gallery (23 Cork Street, W1 S3NJ). Visit the gallery online at www.modernmastersgallery.com.
