Is There A Mnemonic For Remembering London’s Bridges?

A view of Tower Bridge that not many people get, by M@

So asks Richenda Walford of the excellent London Remembers. And, we’re stumped. Never heard one. So we thought it might be fun to see who can put the most amusing scheme together. There are various ways we can play it (how far upstream do we go? do we count rail bridges? etc.), but for the sake of argument, we’re going to limit it to the Westminster-Tower stretch, not including the rail bridges, and naming the two Golden Jubilee Bridges by their joint common name of Hungerford Bridge. So, here’s the set:

Westminster

Hungerford

Waterloo

Blackfriars

Millennium

Southwark

London

Tower

So, take the first letter of each bridge and make a sentence out of other words beginning with the same letters. You can do it W to T or T to W, and add extra bridges if you want to show off.

Just thought I’d say that, weeks later, the one that I still remember is ‘To London so my brothers will have water’.

Any chance someone cleverer than me could come up with one up to Hammersmith, say? I was getting all sorts of lost today failing to cross the Albert Bridge.
