Did Boris Threaten Bikers?

1109_boris.jpg Another D-lock in mouth moment from the Mayor yesterday evening, after he was caught on film apparently threatening to axe motorcycle access to bus lanes. Boris was wobbling round a congested Trafalgar Square when he approached a group of bikers from the No to Bike Parking Tax group, who were protesting about roadside parking charges introduced by Westminster council. Clearly irked, a glowering Mayor growls: “Do you want to stay in the bus lanes or not? Then stop this protest”. Doing irreparable damage to their toughened reputation, the bikers have released a short video clip of the incident, and claim that the Mayor was using “threatening behaviour” toward them.     “I believe that an independent body should decide on whether the motorcycle bus lane scheme will go forward”

    Apparently not!

    It should also be pointed out that the major congestion causing vehicle is the bendy bus as they block up Trafalgar much better than the bikes do!

    Most of the people at these demos are hard-working commuters who ride scooters; hardly Hell’s Angels!

    If Boris wants to kick us out of the bus lanes then okay, we’ll just have to go back into the traffic queues and not filter; exactly (and only) what the protestors are doing at Trafalgar Square. Treat us like cars and we’ll act like cars.

    I hope he made the same threat to the protesting cabbies. Long past time they were chucked out of the bus lanes.
