Explosion Reported On Oxford Street

Numerous reports via Twitter suggest some kind of explosion has taken place on Oxford Street, close to Bond Street Tube. Some reports suggest the location as Foot Locker. Police have cordoned off the area and buses are being diverted. Some say a building has partially collapsed. The rumoured blast comes during the big election debate. More as we get it. We emphasise that this is still unconfirmed and (we hope) is just someone trying to get twitter abuzz.

Update: 20:30. TfL website confirms that Bond Street station is closed at police request. No confirmation yet about a blast.

Update: 20:43. Still no official word or images from the site. Conflicting Twitter rumours suggest either an electrical explosion or a gas leak.

Update: 20:57. It seems increasingly likely that this is a small scale incident, with no evidence of damage or casualties.

Update: 21:06. First pictures suggest some kind of blast in the basement, judging by the raised paving slabs.
