Video: Inside East London Line Carriages And Driver's Cab

Following on from our recent photo tour of the East London Line, here are a couple of short videos taken onboard the Class 378 trains (or bendy-trains as we may soon be calling them).

This clip shows the train pulling out of New Cross Gate heading northwards. The camera pans round to capture the inside of the mostly empty train. With no doors or partitions between carriages, the snaking configuration feels a little dizzying. The footage ends as the train passes the incredible Riders of the Apocalypse mural off Coldblow Lane.

For this second clip, we were given a privileged viewpoint from the driver's cab. The film shows a train pulling out of the new Shoreditch station, heading north over the Shoreditch High Street viaduct.

The route from Dalston Junction to New Cross Gate is due to open as part of the London Overground network in the next month, with services down to West Croydon by the end of June. A further extension to Highbury and Islington will open by February 2011.
