London's First Sherry Bar: Pepito
Photography by Chris Osburn
A sherry bar in London? What a
fino idea! And now it's a reality. Opening today in that same secret courtyard as Spanish restaurant Camino (indeed, they share the same owner), Bar Pepito is a tiny place with a
hefty list of 15 sherries, a delectable smattering of
tapas and a rustic atmosphere that'll make you forget you're mere steps from King's Cross. We like
Camino and think
sherry is one of the tastiest excuses to raise a glass to our lips. At last night's launch, Londonist enjoyed a trio of sherries: a dry Tio Pepe, a complex
Palo Cortado quaff of Apóstoles and a treacly
Oloroso Dulce glass of Solera 1847. We noticed plenty of other bottled reasons to return, such as our pud wine of choice, Noe. A drool-worthy list of jamons, quesos and authentically bite-sized tapas will undoubtedly assist in tempting us back again soon.Sherries range in price from £3.50 to £7.50 for a glass and from £12.25 for a bottle. Tapas start at £2.00 with most items costing around a fiver.Pepito is located at 3 Varnishers Yard, The Regent Quarter (N1 9DF) across the courtyard from Camino. Visit the bar online at
