London Dating: Wit, To Woo

3286406881_aae62de4e0_m.jpg If you're looking for a Good Sense Of Humour in the dating game, you could certainly do worse than heading to the speed dating night at comedy club Up The Creek on 17th Feb. Established acts and newcomers provide stand-up comedy based around the pitfalls of dating, in the hope that their awkwardness will lessen yours. Cunningly it's AFTER the dreaded V-Day, so even if you hit it off with someone you can avoid having to shell out for an over-priced and underwhelming night out with the rest of London's couples.

Continuing the comedy theme, the Pork and Pickle Pie comedy club are running a one night only Stupid Cupid event at The Britannia on Victoria Park on the 11th. For a mere fiver you'll get a comedic perspective on the concept of love and Valentine's Day, AND a piece of the legendary pie.

Londonistas seem to have a particular soft-spot for tube geekery, so we're giddy with excitement at the prospect of combining this passion with, er, passion at the London Transport Museum's Commuter Love night on Friday 12th February. Taking off where thelondonpaper's LoveStruck column cruelly abandoned us after the paper's demise, they've even laid on speed dating for the evening, which includes entrance to the Suburbia exhibition and a flirtini cocktail for £15, along with a whole host of other events from aromatherapy to bingo.

If it's culinary prowess you're after, the gorgeous Milanor Sicilian kitchens of Venturi's Table corporate cookery school are open to the public in the run up to Valentine's day. Catering - literally - to very eligible professionals, the centre is the brainchild of a Milanese mother and daughter team, Anna Venturi and Letizia Tufari, who are passionate about using food and the atmosphere of the kitchen to bring people together. At the Love At First Bite cookery based speed dating evenings you'll be greeted with a prosecco and canape reception before getting some one-on-one hands-on culinary experience with the opposite sex, and learn restaurant secrets creating traditional Italian recipes whilst being plied with Sicilian wine, before enjoying the results together as a sit down meal. From 6.30 to 10pm on Monday 8th and Tuesday 9th February £55
