New Cafe Review: The Espresso Bar at the British Library

Restaurateur and the founder/chairman of Peyton and Byrne Limited, Oliver Peyton has decided to offer tasty footnotes for library goers with his latest venture. Located on Euston Road as part of the British Library Complex, Peyton’s Espresso Bar offers quality eats, freshly roasted coffees and, most important to our humble opine, churros and hot chocolate.

On our visit this morning, we were more than chuffed to receive a cup of long and warm churros squeezed out of a big, shiny, new churro maker. Dusted with cinnamon and sugar and served with an espresso cup helping of fairly thick hot chocolate, this £2.70 indulgence means more delicious library study breaks. And mere knowledge (or catching a whiff) of these fried dough yummies should improve vastly anyone’s King’s Cross/Euston Road trudge. With its takeaway window, outdoor seating and bar with a street view, the Espresso Bar is a nifty spot to watch the world go by. Indeed, the bar’s proximity to St Pancras guarantees prime people watching.

The Espresso Bar is located at the British Library, 96 Euston Road, NW1 2DB. Visit www.oliverpeyton.co.uk for more details.

Fantastic find! I go to the Library quite a bit but somehow always manage to miss this place. Stopped by this morning and received some free churros, which were warm and delicious.

Free churros? That’s awesome. Glad you enjoyed The Espresso Bar.

Their single espresso is o.k. too, I appreciated it more there than anywhere else at the BL

Good stuff! Seems like the best option around by far.

I travelled an hour yesterday JUST to have churros and chocolate sauce at this lovely place, after passing by last week and trying a free sample.

At the moment they are doing a special offer (with a voucher-card thingy they’ve been giving out) of churros, chocolate sauce and coffee – for £2.50. Their coffee is the best I have ever had, and the churros are to die for! Great service from friendly staff, too.

If you are passing through Kings Cross, St Pancras or Euston, it’s worth taking a five minute detour to this place.

    Samantha 81,

Wow. I’m so glad you weren’t let down. I completely agree with you about the friendly staff.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and enthusiasm!
