Rather spoiling his image as the cycling Mayor, Boris Johnson's taxi bill for his time thus far in office is over £4,500, according to the BBC. This includes one ride that cost £237 alone as Boris kept the cab waiting outside his home address. Troublingly, this sum contradicts the one listed on his official expense form, which claims just £1,900 in taxi fares. The Mayor's office has blamed "slowness in invoice processing", but The Guardian's Dave Hill has had a tangle with Boris before over his taxi-rides and thinks there might be more to the Mayor's hackney-cab jollies than meets the eye.
