Rasa Sayang is one of the few Malaysian restaurants in Chinatown and Londonist ventured in one night looking for some spice; we encountered some very delicious dishes. Nasi lemak (pictured above) is a one dish meal of coconut scented rice served with acar (spicy pickles), sambal (a chili relish), chicken curry, fried anchovies and peanuts, and a boiled egg. Hokkien mee (below) is of the Malaysian style and has thick noodles in a dark soy sauce with bits of fried lard scattered throughout. Finally, peruse the possibly unfamiliar offerings in the dessert section of the menu. Londonist has not found ondeh-ondeh (the final and very green photo) at any other restaurant in the city. These orbs of green are of glutinous rice flour and their chewy shells hold palm sugar innards; fresh grated coconut dust the outsides. We had a fabulous meal here but the best part about the place is quite possibly the price - most dishes are under the £7 mark.
