BBC Good Food Show - London

Ho hum. Londonist dropped in on the opening of the BBC Good Food Show at Olympia this morning. We sampled a few tasty treats, considered purchasing some stuff (but ended up not buying anything) and basically wondered what all the fuss was about. If you’ve ever been to Olympia or Earl’s Court or any of London’s other massive convention repositories, then you know the scene: tons of people queuing up to sample stuff … and paying good money to do so. This morning, Olympia was packed; we can only imagine the show will draw even more folks tomorrow and Sunday. There were plenty of vendors offering all sorts of eatin'-related items and concepts, but nothing really inspired us (well, honestly, the folks from Manor Farm Game had some particularly delicious savouries, but you can already find them all over London). Anyway, if you like large conventions and don’t feel that you’re up on current food and cooking trends, the Good Food Show might be just the thing. Otherwise, if you really want to indulge in a foodie weekend, you’re better off simply heading over to Borough Market or your local farmers market.
