As if Clerkenwell needed another fantastic pub! Londonist wandered over to last night’s grand opening of Hatton Wall’s Hat and Tun. It’s a very pubby pub with lots of taxidermed animal heads, big cushy leather sofas and an honest to goodness wood-burning fireplace. An adequate selection of ales (such as Adnams Bitter and Adnams Broadside) at three quid or under and a well-rounded wine list, along with a menu of real pub grub (such as Scotch eggs with HP sauce, pork pie with piccalilli, pie and mash) has us contemplating how soon we can head back (and noting that they’re unfortunately not open on Saturdays and Sundays).
