Conveniently located for Kew Gardens, which also explains the name, The Botanist is a pleasant sort of place where you can imagine lingering long over a Sunday lunch. The recent refurbishment must have cost a bob or two, simply because there are so many rooms, areas and walls to decorate. It has a comfortable feel, which will appeal to families and couples wandering in after a stroll around the neighbouring World Heritage Site. While it's clearly going for the gastropub look, the beer is taken seriously, with six casks of ale, regularly changing. We sampled a few of the snack-food courses and can highly recommend the cauliflower tempura — if you like that sort of thing.
