A fascinating new exhibition shines light on the Battle of Britain Bunker — a secret, underground hideout that played a crucial war in the defence of the United Kingdom during world war two. The adjacent visitor centre offers interactive exhibitions, original artefacts and information that puts the bunker itself in context. That way, as you descend the 72 steps that lead you 18m below the surface to the heart of the control centre, you can truly understand what an incredible part of national history this is.
You can find the entrance to the Battle of Britain Bunker on Wren Avenue (off St Andrews Road), Uxbridge, UB10 0FD and it is approximately a 20 minute walk from Uxbridge tube station. Entrance costs £7 for adults, £5 for over 65s and is free for under 16s and serving/ex military personnel.
