Tube Stations Renamed In TfL's Summer Roundel Campaign
This one's at Oxford Circus, where there's apparently a shop or two.

Riding the tube network this summer, you may notice a few of the stations have been temporarily renamed.

As part of TfL's 'Welcome Back London' campaign, roundels at 16 stations have been rebranded to reflect the reopening of the city en masse, following various lockdowns.

This one's at Shoreditch High Street.

Names and phrases on the roundels reflect the station's area, so bar and club hubs like Shoreditch and Brixton feature 'Going Out Out', Leicester Square, gateway to many West End Theatres, has 'Opening Night' and Shepherd's Bush, home of Westfield Shopping Centre, has 'Retail Therapy'.

While London's bars and shops have been open in some capacity for a while now, since the lifting of most Covid restrictions in England on 19 July, many venues including nightclubs and theatres have now fully reopened — and that's something TfL is capitalising on.

The 'Welcome Back London' campaign, we're told, is TfL's biggest since the 2012 Games.

But — with another steep rise in Covid cases — Londoners are also being requested to travel with caution. Despite the government's recent relaxation of restrictions, Sadiq Khan and TfL have (sensibly) insisted that London's public transport users continue to wear a mask when they travel.

Said Sadiq Khan:

[The] re-opening of the capital's culture, hospitality and night-time economy venues is an important step, but I urge all Londoners and visitors to enjoy themselves carefully and responsibly.  This includes continuing to follow the rules and wear a face covering for the duration of their journey on TfL services.
