Charles Holden's sci-fi Southgate tube station is always something to behold, but this week it's even trippier thanks to a temporary installation by a local artist.
Dan Maier has filled the windows of the flying saucer-esque tube station with a stained glass-effect artwork, depicting a golden sunrise and magenta night sky — inspired by the art deco station.

Says the artist, "The harmony of circles represents unity and protection and the strength and stability of squares represent trust."
The vertical lines, meanwhile, represent the undulating train tracks of the tube.
"My goal was to create something cheerful, vibrant and uplifting for the hub of the community, says Maier. "I've had fantastic feedback, with people asking if the art can stay up permanently!"
Unfortunately, you've only got till Friday 25 March to enjoy this uplifting artwork.
