Part Of The Northern Line Is Closing From Spring 2024

Read our roundup of what's happening with London's transport in 2024.

Londoners who use the northern section of the Northern line's Edgware branch should brace themselves for disruption from spring 2024.

The stretch of line between Golders Green and Edgware will be closed on a number of occasions:

  • Tuesday 2 April -Thursday 11 April
  • Saturday 15 June -Sunday 16 June
  • Saturday 22 June-Sunday 23 June
  • Saturday 29 June-Sunday 30 June

Though it's not been confirmed yet, we can presume that replacement buses will run during these closure times.

Why's it happening? Colindale station, which sits between Golders Green and Edgware, is undergoing a major revamp, which includes a new building featuring a spacious ticket hall, and step-free access from the street to platform level. It's surely no coincidence that the design is hangar-esque, given that Colindale is the local station for the RAF Museum.

Colindale station itself will close entirely from summer 2024 until autumn 2024.

Meanwhile, Kentish Town tube station — also on the Northern line — remains closed until summer 2024. When it reopens, passengers can expect smoothly functioning escalators.
