Proposals to expand Holborn tube station have been met with overwhelming support from the public and local community.

96% of people who took part in a recent consultation agreed with TfL's suggestion to add a new entrance (on Procter Street) and to create step-free access, for what is London's 17th busiest tube station.

If you're one of the station's 56 million users, you'll know how cramped it gets, piling through the barriers on Kingsway, and being funnelled through a single point at the bottom of the main escalators.

But don't breathe out just yet: the next consultation probably won't be until 2020, at which point TfL hopes to start shoring up the plans.
