A chance to see scaled-down Tube trains do their thing.
You might already know about King's Cross' Model Railway Club (MRC). We visited in 2023 (watch our video further down in this article), and even if you're not altogether au fait with your OO gauges or Tenshodo coreless motor bogies, it's magical to admire the functioning layouts — each one thousands of painstaking hours of passionate craft in the making.
On Sunday 6 September 2026, things take a decidedly London-centric turn, as the MRC teams up with the London Underground Railway Society for London's Transport in Miniature.
At this special one-day exhibition — which anyone can attend (it's £10 if you buy tickets in advance) — you'll see various layouts including the fictional/semi-fictional Waddesdon Manor, Carlton Vale and Lammas Lane. Made by the likes of people with names like 'Underground Eric', the sheer attention to detail has to be seen to be believed.
The club's flagship Copenhagen Fields — an interwar reimagining of the area to the immediate north of King's Cross, complete with with street running trams in Caledonian Road and both Piccadilly line stations at York Road and Caledonian Road — will be on display.
