Heading to Kentish Town this week? You might want to rethink your travel plans. Transport for London has announced that Kentish Town tube station will remain completely shut until Sunday 4 August, due to faulty escalators.

The unexpected closure comes just a year after the Northern line station's downward escalator was out of action for four months for repairs.

With the Camden Fringe in full swing, it's less than ideal timing — particularly for anyone headed to a show at the Lion & Unicorn Theatre — but tube tickets are being accepted on local buses and Thameslink services. Alternatively, Tufnell Park is about a ten minute walk away from the station, according to TfL's handy walking tube map.
