FILM FESTIVAL: Crystal Palace Film Festival begins today, showcasing local, national and international short films, features and documentaries. Tonight's launch has already sold out but there are some great events over the next couple of weeks including a UK premiere screening and an animation night. HOLLYWOOD DISASTERS: Professor David Alexander is an expert in the principles of disaster reduction, emergency planning and catastrophe management. In this free lunchtime lecture, he talks about how real-life disasters are very different from their portrayal in Hollywood films, using 60 common misconceptions about disaster. PALACE RESTORATION: Steve Bevan is the man in charge of the current restoration project at Fulham Palace, and today there's a chance to quiz him about what's going on there. PENNY LECTURES: To this day, Morley College maintains its 130 year old tradition of Penny Lectures — a chance to hear from an expert for just a penny. COMEDY PERIODS: Country Mile Comedy Club confronts the old stereotype that female comedians only talk about their periods by reminding us why they need to be talked about. CONVO 2019: Convo is the culmination of a two year project working with young people from three boroughs, who contributed their ideas about how music gives us all a voice and a soundtrack. MEGA-COLLIDER: The Large Hadron Collider made headlines around the world a few years ago, but it's a mere baby compared to the Future Circular Collider.
