Mamma Mia! ABBA-Themed Restaurant Comes To London

Dancing Queens, unite! An ABBA-themed restaurant and "immersive theatrical experience" arrives in London next year.

Mamma Mia! The Party will take place within The O2 in spring, and is overseen by ABBA member Björn Ulvaeus. It's already been running in Stockholm since January 2016, inspired by the fun atmosphere of Mamma Mia! The Musical.

The experience is set on Skopelos, the Greek island where parts of Mamma Mia were filmed, and will take place in a purpose-designed venue within The O2, made to look like a Greek taverna. Guests will watch the story of Nikos, the taverna's owner, play out in front of them, while they tuck into Mediterranean food and drink — all soundtracked by ABBA songs. With plenty of dancing, natch.

It follows failed plans to open an aptly-located ABBA-themed restaurant in Waterloo last year, which was turned down due to noise concerns from residents.

Mamma Mia! The Party opens in a purpose-built venue in the O2 in spring 2019, with tickets on sale in autumn 2018. You can sign up now for priority access.
